Check the oil level in the oil level sight glass.
The best way to do this, is with a mirror on a long rod (sold at automotive part stores or "SEARS").
Do the checking while astride of the bike in a vertical position. You might need a helper to shine a flash light on the glass.
My thinking is that there is way too much oil and this would causes the oil to run out of the emission control tube into the air cleaner. The result is oil all around the engine area.
